The Mount Longonot Crater Trek is one of Kenya’s most popular one-day hikes, located about 90 km from Nairobi in the heart of the Great Rift Valley. Rising dramatically above the plains, Mount Longonot is a dormant stratovolcano with a breathtaking crater rim trail that offers panoramic views of Lake Naivasha and the Rift Valley escarpment.
The trek begins at Mount Longonot National Park gate, climbing steadily through forested slopes alive with birds and wildlife such as antelopes and baboons. Upon reaching the rim, trekkers can circle the entire crater, a 7.2 km path offering 360° views of Kenya’s stunning landscape.
